Quinté of Sunday January 1, 2023

Winner of the 2022 Elitlopp and third in the last Prix du Bourbonnais (Gr. II) for his return to Vincennes, amazing (4 – A. Barrier) will be our favorite. Richard Westerink’s champion will certainly make progress on this latest outing. He has already walked 1’09”2 on the course of the day (Prix René Ballière 2022) and should actively compete for victory. His trainer explained to our journalist Christophe Meyer: “He made a very good comeback in the Prix du Bourbonnais and was only beaten by trackers. Since then, he has been in excellent physical condition. He is cheerful and has regained a lot of freshness following a busy season. Sunday, he will still keep his irons. He has inherited a good number and, even if this “Burgundy” is not his objective, he should finish in the top three.

He will face Herald of Arms (15 – JM Bazire), faulty at the end of the last bend in the Prix Ténor de Baune (Gr. I), last Saturday. This element of the Bazire stable, the least wealthy of the event, is none other than the winner of the European Championship for 5-year-olds (Gr. I). He is a candidate for the first places, just like Delia du Pommereux (5 – PY Verva), who has just reassured us by taking fifth place in the “Bourbonnais”. Cokstile (1 – VP Dell’Annunziata), defending champion, had a very good 2022 season. Zarenne Fas (6 – E. Raffin), second in the Prix Jules Lemonnier (Gr. II) behind Blue Granville Saturday, December 24, Bluff Dipa (8 – A. Abrivard), winner of the Prix Doynel de Saint-Quentin (Gr. II) during his last outing, or even Gu d’Héripré (2), associated for the first time with Benjamin Rochard, will be candidates to follow for the places.
