A start to the season is excitement, but sometimes also money placed on a foal that attracts us. Real money for those who can and who want, or simple predictions between friends or family, just to hear your mother talk regarding the son of Joakim Noah and Magic Jordan. In any case, this 2022-23 season is no exception to the rule and we therefore decided to reflect on a few existential questions for 30 seconds. One of them ? Who will be the Coach Of the Year this year, the COY, in other words the coach who will have worked the best this season. Send the reviews, screen me this and we’ll come out in June, probably with huge bars of laughter.

Willie Green. The young Pelicans coach has only one NBA year behind him as a head coach, but he managed to lay a solid foundation last year to allow the Pels to take off this season. He proved at first that in adversity, he knew how to hold his group, before maximizing the talent he had available until he made the Suns sweat in the first round of the Playoffs. The return of Zion Williamson to the collective that shone so well in the postseason represents both a great opportunity and a challenge for Green, but I have confidence in his abilities to make New Orleans’ hyper-talented squad work. If the Pels take off to potentially break into the Western Conference Top 6, Green will have a say in the Coach of the Year race.

Taylor Jenkins. Why ? Because, already, I find it quite crazy that the Grizzlies coach looks like a Grizzly himself. Or in Cauet. Anyway. Then I have the kind of intimate conviction that Memphis will roll on the regular season and win 60 wins or not far, which should casually weigh heavily in the balance. I place one for Erik Spoelstra who deserves the statuette every year for more than ten years and who always has empty hands, for Gregg Popovich who has other objectives this year and for Vincent Collet who according to Edwin Jackson we remember him “has nothing to envy to Brad Stevens”. To return to the NBA, my Tata Jenkins has a nice outsider’s head and a COY trophy would be representative of the explosion of the Grizzlies for two years.

Tyronn Lue. It’s time to offer some recognition to dear Tyronn Lue. I already thought that his work last year had been incredible considering the injuries of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. With the return of the two leaders and the depth of LA’s workforce, the Clippers have everything to aim very high in the West. I even put them first in my ranking. Going from eighth to first place is the kind of accomplishment that goes well when you’re looking to nab the title of Coach Of the Year. The mayonnaise will have to set, find the right balance between one and the other, there have been a lot of changes in recent months, but I sincerely believe that Allen Iverson’s best friend (no) will find the solutions to that the sailboats arrive safely.

Mike Malone. Around Nikola Jokic, who will continue to do dirty in slow-motion, the Nuggets coach can also count on the return of his two luxury lieutenants. Michael Porter Jr. has repaired his back and especially Jamal Murray will bring out the arrows from his quiver. To win the bet, MM will have to hope to see the “Orlando bubble” version of his leader, as well as the version “without my injuries, I might have been first choice of Draft” of MPJ. Add to that ideal role players like Bruce Brown and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a walking firecracker like Bones Hyland, and above all a guy out of nowhere that the coach will know how to shape, and you get an explosive cocktail that bartender Mike Malone will spice up. in the best way to spin the hangover to his opponents and a beautiful euphoria to his troops.

Steve Nash. There is a world, ladies and gentlemen, a world in which Nutella jars open without leaving pieces of packaging on the rim. A world where it is not necessary to have the stature of Zaza Pachulia to enter line 9 of the Paris metro at 6 p.m. A world in which the Nets, following a very turbulent summer, revive and beat absolutely all their opponents or almost until mid-November in a kind of more or less peaceful coexistence. A world where faced with the astonishing absence of glitch in the machine of Brooklyn, the links are warming between the different clans, leaving room for the retention of the tactician. A world where injuries are just a bad memory, and these Nets are absolutely unplayable. A world where they end up with 59 victories… in short, a world where this trophy rightfully belongs to Steve Nash. the

Jason Kidd. The former Mavs point guard is now the coach and while Luka will surely win the MVP title, at least be in the finalists – if he stays serious and away from the Five Guys – it is Jason Kidd who will win the statuette of the best coach. The arrival of missing pieces Christian Wood and JaVale McGee will perfect the team and Kidd will use them in the best way to propel Dallas into the Top 3 of the Western Conference. Luka in MVP mode, Wood in substitute of the year mode and JaVale McGee in mode… JaVale Mcgee is perhaps the coach who will win his title in the end, and the planets seem aligned to me. They will be expected in the Playoffs, but the statuette rewards the regular, and the Mavs will be top notch at this level.

Michael Malone. The Nuggets will be first in the West with the best record in the League, you will have heard it here first. Finally, read, I imagine that few of you use audio description, and if so, you have to. In short, it was enough for Monty Williams last season, it will be enough for Michael Malone this year, even if the Nuggets have a real superstar, not like the Suns who only have losers, but we are digressing from the subject there. Let’s get serious once more, Denver is going to be very strong this year, thanks of course to the return of Jamal Murray but also to the step-up of their coach, who will bring us a guy from behind the bundles, we can’t say who for the instant, which will explode everything without anyone expecting it. All this while quietly managing Nikola Jokić’s minutes to secure a playoff run.

Taylor Jenkins. Since its creation in 1962, the statuette which rewards the best coach of the year has taken the direction of Memphis only once. It was during the 2003-2004 season, the Grizzlies coached by Hubie Brown had finished with 50 wins in 6th place in the Wild West. Another world for sure, but the time may have come for Taylor Jenkins to bring the distinction back to Tennessee. Since he took over as head of the cubs, the franchise has continued to improve and the game is very consistent. Yes, Taylor Jenkins has a group brimming with talent, but they still need to be orchestrated and developed. And that, the former Bucks assistant seems to achieve wonderfully. Well helped by a Ja Morant who will make sparks, Jenkins and Memphis are likely to nab a lot of victories. Great game, victories… the recipe seems simple and Jenkins has a real chance of winning.
