Quetzal: A Progressive Rock Band with a Bird’s Eye View – Free Concert and New Album Release

The instrumental group Quetzal will perform on Saturday August 26, from 9:30 p.m., at the La Rondavelle snack bar located at the leisure center, on the edge of the Rance. Quetzal is the name of a bird considered one of the most beautiful on earth. He lives in South America.

“In all our songs, we composed our music from a bird’s eye view of the world, specifies Christian Laur, composer and guitarist. I chose the name Quetzal for the group. All the songs bear the title of a different bird.” Quetzal is a progressive rock band, from Saint-Affrique, who only plays original compositions. They are four: Denis Louvel on drums, Florian Candau on keyboard, Daniel Borrégo on bass and Christian Laur on guitar. “Our music is a mixture of rock with appropriate passages with classical music, comments the latter. It’s rock, but very soft, with very calm passages. There is a lot of relief. In our music, there is has influences from Genesis, Angel and King Crimson. Our set is regarding two hours long.”

The group has just recorded an album which will be released soon. He will also sign with a record company.
