QUETTA: Chinese art exhibition to ‘innovate’ youth art

Balochistan capital of Quetta Made by Chinese painters in Silk Gallery Works of art The exhibition was organized so that the youth of the province can innovate in their work by getting acquainted with the art of China.

According to the organizers, this is the first Chinese art exhibition in Quetta exhibition was aimed at promoting art relations between the two countries.

Mubarak Shah, the organizer of the exhibition, said that this exhibition at Silk Road Culture Center’s Silk Gallery is decorated with the works of expert artists from China, in which the works of senior and PhD level artists are kept.

He said: ‘There are around 43 artists’ artworks, done on their traditional colors and papers. It is a unique art. As each region has a different tradition and culture, so does the art form in each region.’

Mubarak Shah says that Chinese civilization is one of the oldest civilizations and their work is centuries old, which is definitely different from our art.

He said: ‘Until we show our young artists the variety of work that is happening in the world, there will be no innovation in their work.’

He said that in order to innovate in art, one has to see and read the work of different people, so we want the artists here to be aware of what kind of work is being done in which area.

Mubarak Shah said that these works of art included Chinese calligraphy and poems and poetry written in Chinese language.

He said: ‘The exhibition of the works of Chinese artists is also part of the program of mutual exchange of art, our effort is to take art from Balochistan and Pakistan to China and bring the work there.’

When Mubarak Shah was asked how much the artists should be in tune with innovation or their tradition, he said, “We are carrying our tradition along, but if we do not bring innovation, we will be left behind in the world.” We have to make modern art to keep up with the world and keep our traditional art alive.’

He said: ‘If we move away from our traditional art, we will not have history and if we don’t keep up with innovation, we won’t be able to keep up with the world. You should pay attention.’

Artists and ordinary citizens participated in the two-day exhibition showing interest and trying to understand the work of Chinese artists.
