Questions in Israel about changing Egyptian army leaders and mobilizing Egyptian forces in Sinai

Under the title “Egypt’s top security leadership is changing,” the Israeli news website “news1” said that Egyptian President Sisi replaced the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Army, Osama Askar, and appointed Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim to succeed him in the position, even though Askar has held the position since October 2021.

Sisi appointed the latter as his advisor for military affairs, and he also changed the Egyptian Minister of Defense, Mohamed Zaki, and replaced him with Major General Abdel Majeed Saqr.

The website pointed out that during the past week it was announced that the Egyptian army was amassing large forces in Egyptian Rafah, regarding 160 tanks and armored personnel carriers, 140 jeeps equipped with anti-tank guns and dozens of anti-tank missiles.

Sisi decided to appoint Omar Al-Khattab Marwan Abdullah Arafa as his office director, in addition to appointing Major General Mohsen Mahmoud Ali Abdel Nabi as media advisor, and appointing Hala Helmy Al-Saeed Younis as advisor to the president for economic affairs.
