THE Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has asked the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit to audit the finances of the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) Foundation. This is in order to complete the case files for the money laundering crime (TPPU) suspected against Panji Gumilang.

“The public prosecutor stated that the foundation’s finances should be audited. Why, because it is important to see what? To see the tempus, whether it falls into the category of predicate crimes or money laundering crimes,” said Head of the Attorney General’s Office’s Legal Information Center Harli Siregar at the Attorney General’s Office Building, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 25, 2024.

In addition, Harli said the financial audit of Panji Gumilang’s foundation was to see the cash flow in and out. To ensure whether there was an indication of TPPU or not.

“This is very important, because the articles that are suspected are articles related to TPPU, so certainty is needed,” said Harli.

According to Harli, in fact, regarding this case, there have been two minutes of coordination between the AGO and the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The request for a financial audit of the Al-Zaytun foundation is the third minute submitted by the public prosecutor (JPU) which is considered very fundamental and has not been fulfilled by investigators.

Apart from that, Harli has not been able to confirm the position of the case file. Whether it is still with the investigators of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit or has been transferred back to the Public Prosecutor.

“I’ll check later, because if I’m not mistaken, it was a few weeks ago (the request for the foundation’s financial audit). Whether the case files have been submitted to investigators again to be completed, yes, we will update it later,” concluded the former Head of the West Papua High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati).
