Football panel Mülder has told Charles de Quetelaer he doesn’t understand why he’s wearing an AC Milan jersey rather than Leeds United in the Premier League
[골닷컴] Reporter Park Moon-soo = “Premier League’s Leeds United made an offer to sign him, but he chose AC Milan. I don’t understand.”
Belgian prospect Charles de Quetelaer has joined AC Milan. The term of his contract is 5 years. His jersey number is 90, as he did at Club Brugge.
It wasn’t easy. Despite Milan’s continued courtship, he was unable to close the gap with Bruges. Leeds United, who sent Hafinha to Barcelona, joined the fight. He offered a higher transfer fee than Milan. After a long tug-of-war, an agreement was reached. So de Quetelaer became an official Milan player.
But Dutch columnist and former footballer Jan Mülder said de Ketelaer’s move to Milan was questionable. It was antipathy (?) for choosing the Serie A stage rather than the Premier League.
Mülder, who appeared on the talk show of Belgian media ‘HLN’, said, “I don’t understand this transfer at all.”
In the process, he said, “Obviously de Quetelaer had to go to the Premier League, because it’s the best league in the world. It’s where famous players like Milan and Serie A go into their twilight. Leeds play in the Premier League. And he shows attractive football. I think Leeds football suits De Quetelaer.”
In the case of Milan, to which de Quetelaer has transferred, is one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs, having won the UEFA Champions League seven times. Despite the stigma of being a toothless tiger, they reclaimed the top spot in Serie A last season and succeeded in securing the first seed in the UEFA Champions League.
On the other hand, Leeds, one of the transfer contenders, managed to avoid relegation last season. You cannot play in the UEFA Champions League or the European competition itself. As Mülder said, the Premier League might be the league of your dreams. The weight class itself is different from Serie A.
Contrary to Mülder’s remarks, Ketelaer, who made his debut on the Milan club channel on the 3rd, expressed his anticipation for the new team, saying, “I only wanted a transfer to Milan.”
Born in 2001, De Ketelaer made his professional debut with the youth team of Bruges. He is a multiplayer that can be used on any offensive line. He can be seen as a second-line resource for Giroud, Origi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is also a player who can sometimes be used as a forward striker. Thanks to this, he has appeared in eight matches for the Belgian national team even at a young age, scoring one goal.
