MEXICO CITY (AP) — With a goal from striker Ángel Sepúlveda in the second half on Sunday, Querétaro beat Necaxa 1-0 for the sixth date of the Apertura tournament in Mexico.
Sepúlveda scored the only goal of the match following 51 minutes and that was enough for the Gallos Blancos to win for the second time this season.
Querétaro, led by the Argentine Mauro Gerk, now has seven points with which it is placed in ninth position with three games remaining in the day.
Necaxa suffered its fourth defeat and remains with only two points in the penultimate place among the 18 teams in the first division.
Los Gallos Blancos got the goal when the Rayos lost a ball at the start, Sepúlveda received a pass from the left side and volleyed a shot that left Argentine goalkeeper Luis Unsain without a chance.
