POLITICAL RETURN (2). After Jean-Luc Bouzon and before Pascale Krebs, it is the turn of Quentin Brière to express his objectives at the start of the school year. Commerce, school life, proximity, security… The mayor reviewed the issues during a back-to-school conference.

In our edition of Tuesday September 19, Jean-Luc Bouzon invites Quentin Brière to “be concerned regarding the daily life of the Bragards”. Diligent reading of the daily jhm by the interested party or pure chance? The fact remains that the councilor started his press conference like this, this Tuesday, from his office, on the first floor of the Town Hall: “I approach this return to school by emphasizing the daily life of the Bragards. »

The Citizenship Passport on October 10

Alongside his first assistant Rachel Blanc and Virginia Clausse, deputy for Communication, Families, School Life and Solidarity, the mayor addressed several subjects “which only concern the city”, he said, the return to the Agglo will take place at the beginning of October*.

Starting with the start of the school year which saw 2,250 students return to school, “that’s six more students than last year”, welcomes Quentin Brière, who mentioned the five-year plan for transforming courses school; extra-curricular measures (Passport to citizenship, which starts for the 3rd year on October 10, the Démos orchestra, “the forest makes school” in partnership with Diderot, in Marnaval – we will come back to this); as well as the launch of the architect competition for the future Clos-Mortier school. Start-up objective: the start of the school year in September 2026. “It is a magnificent signal to build a school in a medium-sized town,” declared Quentin Brière, “the latest one was Jean-de-la- Fontaine fifteen years ago,” recalls Virigina Clausse.

A tax on commercial wastelands

If schools are a concern, adults are not left out with an increase in the budget allocated to the reinforced local service: €250,000 this year compared to €200,000 in 2022, in addition to major road maintenance (€1 million) , the municipality lists its road improvements (rues Henry-Bordeaux, Costes-et-Bellonte, de l’Arquebuse in particular).

In the middle of a dense back-to-back conference, two other key subjects emerged: arming the municipal police (read on page 8) and the trade support plan. To combat vacancy, the city will introduce a tax on commercial wastelands that have been empty for more than two years. If the measure must be voted on at the next municipal council, on September 28, its outlines were revealed on Tuesday. “The tax will be 20% of the property value of the property the first year (of vacancy, editor’s note), 30% the second, 40% the third,” explains Rachel Blanc. The City is also launching an aid system for businesses that are setting up (25% within the limit of €10,000 for work or equipment) and for owners who will improve their rental premises. Quentin Brière also indicated that he was in contact with developers in order to approach national brands. To be continued…

* At the same time as the new name of the intercommunality will be revealed.
