QUEENSRŸCHE and Recent Activity
QUEENSRŸCHE recently wrapped up the U.S. leg of their ”The Origins Tour,” where they performed their 1983 EP and their 1984 album “The Warning” in their entirety. The band’s latest studio album, “Digital Noise Alliance,” was released in October 2022 via Century Media. Produced once again by Chris ”Zeuss” Harris, who previously worked on QUEENSRŸCHE’s “Condition Hüman” (2015) and “The Verdict” (2019). Guitarist Mike Stone, who rejoined QUEENSRŸCHE in 2021,contributed solos to the album. Stone, who originally joined the band for the 2003 album ”Tribe” and stayed for six years before leaving, returned to fill the second-guitarist role after longtime guitarist Parker Lundgren departed in July 2021 to pursue other ventures. casey Grillo has been drumming for QUEENSRŸCHE for the past seven and a half years, stepping in for original drummer Scott Rockenfield, who took a hiatus from touring in early 2017 to focus on his family. In 2021, a legal dispute arose between Rockenfield and QUEENSRŸCHE members Wilton and bassist Eddie Jackson. Rockenfield filed a lawsuit alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and wrongful discharge, while Wilton and Jackson countersued, alleging abandonment of his position and misappropriation of band assets. The dispute was ultimately settled out of court.Wilton’s Solo Debut
In December 2023, Michael Wilton released his solo album, “Volume 1,” via Rat Pak Records.## Archyde Presents: An Interview with Michael Wilton

when I was a kid, and it’s only grown stronger over time.
**Archyde**: We’ve heard whispers of some pretty impressive additions to your collection recently.
**Michael Wilton**: Well, I can’t reveal all my secrets! But, let’s just say I’ve made some strategic investments in some truly exceptional instruments. Some vintage pieces, some modern marvels. Each one has its own unique voice, its own personality.
**Archyde**: Is there a particular instrument you’re most drawn to at the moment?

**Michael Wilton**:
It’s like picking a favorite child! Each guitar has its own strengths. But if I had to choose, there’s a 1959 Les Paul that just sings to me. The tone is rich, warm, with a bite that cuts through any mix. It’s a true classic.
**Archyde**: That takes us nicely into your solo work. You’ve got a new album coming out soon. is there a connection between your love for guitars and the sound of this new record?
**Michael Wilton**: Absolutely! This album is a culmination of years of exploration, both sonic and personal. Each track is a canvas for the unique voices of my guitars to shine through. The album explores various genres, from bluesy rock to progressive metal, showcasing the versatility of the instruments I’ve collected over the years.
**Archyde**: We’re certainly excited to hear it. Can you tell us a little bit more about the themes and inspirations behind the album?

## Archyde Exclusive: Michael Wilton Lets Loose – Guitars, QUEENSRŸCHE and that Solo Album
**Archyde** caught up with QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton recently to discuss his latest passion project, his solo debut “Volume I.” Wilton, known for his blistering riffs and signature sound, opened up about his musical journey and revealed a surprising frugality when it comes to most things…except guitars!
**Archyde:** Michael, congratulations on the release of “Volume I”! It’s a fantastic showcase of your skills as a guitarist. What inspired you to finally take the plunge and release a solo album?
**Michael Wilton:** Thanks! It feels great to finally share this with everyone. For years, people have asked when I’d release solo material. I’ve always written a lot of music, and I found myself with a collection of ideas that felt distinct from QUEENSRŸCHE’s sound. “Volume I” is a journey through genres I enjoy – rock, blues, fusion – all tied together by my signature style.
**Archyde:** Speaking of QUEENSRŸCHE,the band has been keeping busy with “the Origins Tour.” How’s it been revisiting those early albums?
**MW:** it’s incredible. “The Warning” and the EP were crucial stepping stones for us,and playing them live again brings back so many memories. The fans love it too; there’s an energy in the room that’s electric.
**Archyde:** You’ve always been recognized for your extraordinary guitar collection.
We heard whispers of some recent acquisitions…
**MW:** [Laughs] Well, let’s just say I have a bit of a weakness for guitars. On the last tour,I might have indulged a little… Okay, maybe six guitars! This time I’ve kept it down to three. Trying to be responsible, you know?
**Archyde:** you come from a background where saving was important.
Was that hard to reconcile with the rockstar lifestyle?
**MW:** My family definitely instilled that value in me.
it’s helped me stay grounded. I don’t focus on material things much.
Fast cars aren’t my thing,but guitars… well,those are different!
**Archyde:** How do you keep track of your collection? It must be quite extensive!
**MW:** [Laughs] Over the years it’s accumulated.Back in the ’90s,with the bands we played with, guitars were always coming your way.
It’s a good problem to have, I guess! I still remember every one though. Each guitar has a story.
**Archyde:** What’s next on the horizon for Michael Wilton, both solo and with QUEENSRŸCHE?
**MW:** I’m already working on the next album, “Volume II.” Expect some surprises! As for QUEENSRŸCHE, we’re planning more touring and writing new material. We’re feeling energized and excited about what lies ahead.
