Queen Mathilde tested positive for coronavirus

Queen Mathilde has tested positive for Covid 19, the Royal Palace announced in a press release on Wednesday followingnoon.

According to the Palace spokesperson, the Queen is fortunately in good health and does not suffer from severe symptoms. “She is feeling fine and no one else has tested positive in the family. The queen will simply have to isolate herself for seven days. She will be able to resume her activities next week since the test already dates from this weekend”, he says. In the press release, the palace specifies that the queen follows the recommendations of her doctor.

She was therefore forced to withdraw from several public demonstrations scheduled for this week.

“She was scheduled to attend a diplomatic reception on Tuesday, an awards show on Thursday and a fast-breaking dinner later in the week and she had to cancel the whole thing”says the spokesperson for the Royal Palace.

This is not the first time that covid has affected the royal family. In September of last year, the couple formed by Queen Mathilde and King Philippe had been forced to limit their contacts and postpone their activities for a short period due to the contamination of one of their children. In particular, the couple had to give up attending the opening of the Van Damme memorial and a visit by Queen Mathilde to the ModeMuseum in Antwerp had to be postponed. Neither the king nor the queen had, however, tested positive at the time. .
