Apparently Lady Susan Hussey, who has been Queen Elizabeth II’s lady-in-waiting since the 1960s, has gotten into some trouble.
According to Page Six, the veteran assistant would have made some comments during a lunch with theater executives months before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in May 2018, that the British monarchy will surely not like.
The claims of who is considered “the number one girl” of the palace and one of the key trusted figures who help the queen in her life, were revealed in reporter Tom Bower’s investigative book, ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and The War Between the Windsors’, published earlier this month.
“While discussing the possibility of Meghan linking up with the National Theater following the wedding, Hussey became unexpectedly serious regarding the couple’s future,” Bower writes. “All of that will end in tears,” she is reported to have said to her. “Mark my words.”
Lady Susan, 83, had been part of the team of palace courtiers who were asked to help Markle adjust to life within the royal family, according to Bower.
She was hired more than six decades ago to answer the many letters the queen received that she mightn’t answer when Prince Andrew was born.
