Queen Elizabeth II, the spiritual leader of the British Commonwealth and head of the Commonwealth, passed away on the 8th (local time) at the age of 96. The British royal family announced that her queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland this followingnoon.

His eldest son, Prince Charles, took over as heir to the throne.

The Queen was on her summer vacation at Balmoral Castle as usual, and on the 6th she appointed a new prime minister with a smile. Then, on the followingnoon of the 7th, she was reported to have canceled the evening schedule following she was advised by her medical staff to rest at the royal family.

Shortly following noon on the 8th, the royal medical team diagnosed that the queen’s health was of concern.

To this news, Prince Charles and the royal family gathered at Balmoral Castle, and the whole country reacted with a keen eye on the Queen’s illness, including the BBC, which stopped regular broadcasting and delivered the Queen’s news live.

After the death of her husband Prince Philip in April of last year, the Queen rapidly deteriorated, and finally was hospitalized in October and was infected with Corona 19 earlier this year.

New Prime Minister Liz Truss also received a report while announcing measures to address the energy crisis in Parliament and sent a message to the Queen’s recovery along with British politicians, including former and current prime ministers.

In the 70 years since 1952, when the Queen reigned, 15 Prime Ministers have passed. During this period, Britain had to focus on post-war recovery, followed by the Cold War, the collapse of the communist bloc, and the establishment of the European Union (EU) and Brexit.

In such a turbulence, the queen was respected as a symbolic being, even though she was not directly involved in politics, for leading the unity of the people when the country was in trouble.

In June, a grand event was held to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the accession. Her devotion to her country while restraining her personal feelings has earned her a reputation for being Britain’s spiritual stalwart and central to uniting Britain following the breakup of the British Empire.
