PARIS, Mar. 29 (Benin News) –
Queen Elizabeth II appeared in public on Tuesday for the first time in five months to attend a memorial service for her husband, Prince Philip, who died aged 99 last year.
The service, which commemorates the Duke of Edinburgh’s years of public service and his “long and full life”, is being held at Westminster Abbey. Among the guests are members of other royal families, including the King and Queen of Spain, Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, and members of the British government, as well as members of Philip’s family.
Queen Elizabeth II traveled to the abbey from Windsor Castle, accompanied by her son Andrew, the Duke of York, as reported by the BBC. It is also Andrew’s first public appearance since signing an out-of-court settlement with the woman who accused him in the US of abusing her when she was still a minor.
Elizabeth II, 95, has had a hectic few months in terms of her health. She had mobility issues and was unable to attend the Commonwealth Day ceremony earlier this month. She also tested positive for COVID-19 in February, an infection that has raised concerns, given her advanced age and declining health late last year, when she spent a night to the hospital.
