“Broken School” is the first feature film produced by Lady and the new film to land in the catalog of Paramount+, Paramount’s premium streaming service. O web workshop had early access to the film and attended the launch press conference held this Friday, March 3rd. Now, let’s give you our impressions regarding the new national production.
“Escola de Quebrada” looks like “Everybody Hates Chris”
Directed by Kaique Alves and Thiago Eva, the film features a charismatic cast that manages to deal very well with day-to-day situations in the periphery. Also, if you are one of the millions of Brazilians who love the famous series “Everybody hates Chris”, you will find references to the series in the new Paramount+ film. One of these references is breaking the fourth wallwith the protagonist talking and presenting situations in a very open dialogue with those on the other side of the screen, watching.
The plot closely follows the school life of Luan (Mauricio Sasi), a young public school student in the East Zone of São Paulo, who wants to be respected and popular and does a lot to try to be noticed by his childhood crush Camila (Laura Castro). ), and for that he has the help of his friends David (Lucas Righi) and Rayane (Bea Oliveira).
Something that needs to be praised is that the film, despite being light and made for audiences of all ages, the production manages to address sensitive real-life topics, such as bullying at school, the use of counterfeit products and the use of neutral language in school settings. In addition, the film is one of the rare national works that does not present the periphery in a pejorative way, completely without violence and without the use of profanity.
“Escola de Quebrada” is the first feature produced by Kondzilla, who had already released the series “Sintonia”, for Netflix, in 2019. The new format should be well accepted by the public and leaves room for new productions in the future.
“Broken School” he was released this fridayMarch 3, and is already available in the catalog of Paramount+.
