Quebecer Matthew Bergeron has signed his first NFL contract with the Atlanta Falcons, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The offensive lineman has agreed with the georgia training under the terms of a four-year contract worth $8.97 million.
Victoriaville Pride was selected by the Falcons in the second round of the NFL Draft last April.
Aged 23, Bergeron wore the colors of the Filons du Cégep de Thetford before heading to Syracuse at the American university level.
The Falcons traded with the Indianapolis Colts to move up to 38th and make Bergeron the first Canadian player to be selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Running back Tshimanga Biakabutuka is the only Quebec player to be selected faster in the NFL Draft. Biakabutuka was picked eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers in 1996.
