A huge system will hit Quebec. Forecast.

Huge system

Even though meteorological spring begins on March 1, we know that winter has certainly not said its last word. Another big system has Quebec in its sights for the weekend and is expected to affect the entire province. Sunday promises to be particularly difficult, especially for the areas north of the river.

Rain and snow

Rain would begin to fall Saturday evening in western regions of Quebec. Temperatures would drop overnight from Saturday to Sunday to get closer to the freezing point. Precipitation would therefore change to snow in certain areas. Overall, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, Charlevoix and the northwest of the province would receive snow. The regions further south would rather be in the rain. It is too early to estimate accumulations, but some regions may experience a broadside.

Uncertainty for southern Quebec

The models are not unanimous regarding the possibility of snow accumulation in greater Montreal. The mercury is expected to drop near freezing overnight. The snow is expected to be melting, but may slowly accumulate. At the time of writing, the broadside seems unlikely for the metropolis, but a few centimeters might litter the ground on Sunday morning.
