The left-wing political formation suggests bringing back the deadline for the end of the sale of gasoline vehicles from 2035 to 2030 and banning the of the most polluting vehicles, in particular SUVs and trucks.
“The CAQ government needs to shift gears and get into action quickly to catch up. There is an urgent need to act in the fight once morest climate change and Quebec is lagging behind,” said Émilise Lessard-Therrien, responsible for solidarity in environmental matters.
“While half of new vehicle buyers say they are influenced by the media, it is worth attacking advertisements that promote the most polluting options which monopolize a good part of the market and GHG emissions”, explained M.me Lessard-Therrien.
The spokesperson for solidarity, Manon Massé, believes for her part that the government “must send a clear message and put pressure on the choices that will be offered to consumers”.
In this battle of the climate crisis, Québec solidaire believes it is urgent to invest in active, public and interregional transportation.
