Quebec singer Marc Hamilton has died at the age of 78, his daughter confirmed to TVA Nouvelles on Saturday.
He breathed his last Thursday at the Saint-Jérôme hospital, where he was hospitalized for various health problems.
Marc Hamilton has finally died of COVID-19, which he contracted in recent days.
Born in Matane, he was best known for his famous song “As I always want to love” released in 1970.
It has been translated into fifteen languages.
Marc Hamilton was also part of the costume group Les Monstres, where he played Dracula, and the group Les Caïds.
The news of his death was announced Saturday morning on the singer’s Facebook page in an unsigned post. “It is with sadness that I inform you that Marc left us for a better world this Thursday. Marc had major health problems which did not allow him to fight the COVID”, can we read there.
Prime Minister François Legault reacted shortly following the announcement.
“My condolences to the loved ones of singer Marc Hamilton. All Quebecers of my generation hummed: “As I always want to love…””, he wrote on Twitter.
