The agreement involves approximately 110 emergency medical dispatchers working at health communication centers in Outaouais, Laurentides-Lanaudière, Montérégie and Mauricie–Centre-du-Québec.

The emergency medical dispatchers are members of the Quebec Federation of Prehospital Employees, an independent central organization of unions.

The finance ministry and the trade union federation confirmed the deal in principle on Friday. It involves a three-year collective agreement from 2022 to 2025.

“We believe that this agreement is in principle consistent with the stated objectives,” the federation wrote in a communication to its members.

“This takes into account the improvement of working conditions and issues common to all parties, especially in terms of attracting and retaining employees and working arrangements,” commented Sonia Lebel from the Finance Minister’s Office.

As a result of the agreement in principle, pressure tactics were suspended from midday on Friday. According to a message sent to members, union members will only remain “visible” until a collective agreement is signed.

The federation said the agreement would, in principle, be presented to members at a meeting between now and the end of August.
