The forcible confinement charge is directly tied to the chaotic events of June 21 when three other victims, alongside Mirshahi, were abducted but were thankfully located unharmed at a bus stop the following day, while Mirshahi’s fate remained tragically uncertain.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, Hickey has also been charged with attempted murder and faces multiple charges stemming from his alleged involvement in a violent shooting incident that occurred in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Montreal’s West Island in August.
Police have provided a description of Nobert, stating he stands at 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs approximately 245 pounds, and has identifiable dark hair and eyes.
Community members who spot Nobert are urged to act promptly by calling 911 or may opt to submit an anonymous tip through the SQ’s Criminal Information Centre by dialing 1-800-659-4264.
It is notable that Mirshahi was under scrutiny by Quebec’s financial regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers, which sought legal action against him, two associates, and a company in 2021. This legal pursuit sought to bar any operations or transactions governed by the provincial Securities Act.
An administrative tribunal’s ruling later imposed strict bans prohibiting Mirshahi from engaging in investment-related activities or providing advisory services, including promotional activities on social media linked to a specific cryptocurrency.
According to this ruling, Mirshahi was also the owner and operator of a private paid Telegram group named Crypto Paradise Island, which catered to cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
