Quebec remains very competitive, however, according to her. We can actually see that hotel costs have increased. […]. Last year, a hotel room cost an average of $246 per night in the Quebec region. This was a 16% increase from 2019. This year, the increase is expected to be 4% more.

Robert Mercury, director of Destination Quebec City, expects a stay in Quebec to cost 10 to 20% more than last year. According to him, it is a reality normal in times of recovery and inflation.

The demand is there, so it’s also a question of supply and demand. […] And we don’t see prices slowing down demand in terms of traffiche explains.

Rates are therefore higher in Quebec than in Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Halifax. The Canadian average was $208 per night last year, up 14% from 2019. Downtown Vancouver and Toronto remain the most expensive places to stay.

Industry players agree, however, that there is something for every price in Quebec City. People can shop. There is something for all budgets depending on the quality, type of hotel, number of services or other types of accommodation that are available.says Martin Soucy, CEO of the Alliance of the tourism industry and Quebec.

Randy Boissonnault, federal Minister of Tourism, believes that the market will find a balance next year. Price is a concern for hoteliers to ensure that tourists do not choose Europe or Mexico because they find it too expensivehe concludes.
