  • Venezuela advanced as the first in Group B after achieving a perfect score in the group stage

The quarter-final matches of the 2024 Copa América will be played this week between Thursday, July 4 and Saturday, July 6 to determine the teams that will advance to the semi-finals of this sporting event.

According to the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), the quarter-final matches will be played in the cities of Arlington, Glendale, Houston and Las Vegas in the United States.

The countries that advanced to the quarterfinals are: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Where to watch Venezuela’s quarter-final match

The Vinotinto match against Canada can be seen on Televen (channel 22 on Intercable and 106 on SimpleTV).

Televen will only broadcast Venezuela’s matches, but the rest of the Copa América can be seen on SimpleTV’s DSports (formerly known as DirecTV Sports).

Match times and dates

According to the information announced by Conmebol, the match times will be as follows:

July 4th

Argentina vs. Ecuador: 9:00 pm (Venezuela time) at NRG Stadium, Houston.

July 5th

Venezuela vs. Canada: 9:00 p.m. (Venezuela time) at AT&T Stadium, Arlington.

July 6th

Colombia vs. Panama: 6:00 pm (Venezuela time) at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.

Uruguay vs. Brazil: 9:00 pm (Venezuela time) at State Farm Stadium, Glendale.

The teams that make it past the quarter-finals will face each other on 8 and 10 July in the semi-finals.

The road to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa America

Argentina became the first team from Group A to advance to the quarterfinals after defeating Peru 2-0 on Saturday, June 29, with two goals from Lautaro Martínez.

In this same group, Canada was the second to advance that day after a 0-0 draw against Chile.

La Vinotinto managed to secure its first place in the quarterfinals after beating the Jamaican team 3-0 Sunday, June 30. A match that kept Venezuela at the top of its group and undefeated after beating Ecuador and Mexico.

In that match, the Venezuelans responsible for the goals in the second half were Eduard Bello, Salomón Rondón and Eric Ramírez.

That same day, Ecuador, which finished second in Group B behind Venezuela, advanced after eliminating Mexico in a 0-0 draw.

In Group C, Uruguay secured its place in the quarterfinals on Monday, July 1, after eliminating the United States in a match that ended 1-0 with a goal by Marhías Olivera.

Panama, meanwhile, advanced to this phase after beating Bolivia 3-1 on Monday, July 1. The goals were scored by José Fajardo, Eduard Guerrero and César Yanis.

Colombia and Brazil remained in first and second place in Group D after Tuesday’s match, July 2, which ended 1-1, allowing both teams to advance to the quarterfinals.

After Venezuela’s victory on Sunday, June 30, for the first time The Vinotinto advanced to the quarterfinals with a perfect score after remaining undefeated.

“We are happy to bring joy to the Venezuelan people, we try to play for that, but we have to stay calm and keep our feet on the ground, we have to continue with humility and work,” said Fernando “Bocha” Batista, coach of the Vinotinto, after the victory against Mexico.

The furthest Venezuela has ever gone in the Copa América was in 2011, when it finished fourth in the tournament.
