Since AMD FSR 2 and NVIDIA DLSS 2 image scaling technologies are used simultaneously by many modern games, reviewers can directly compare their quality and performance. One of these tests was published by the HardwareUnboxed YouTube channel, which compared both technologies in 26 games.

For testing, we used two modes AMD FSR 2 and NVIDIA DLSS 2 – “Performance” and “Quality”. Games were launched in 4K and 1440p resolution. Since both scaling technologies provided almost the same level of performance, the focus of the study was on the quality of the end result of the upscaler.

Tie – same result, DLSS+ – slight advantage, DLSS++ – noticeable advantage, DLSS+++ – significant advantage

A total of 108 gaming tests were conducted. Only in eight cases did FSR 2 perform identically compared to DLSS 2. In all other cases, NVIDIA’s technology outperformed AMD’s solution in terms of graphics.

As part of the tests, it was noted that DLSS did a better job of reconstructing the frame in most cases. NVIDIA technology also resulted in fewer artifacts such as flicker compared to FSR. The biggest difference between DLSS and FSR came in performance mode.
