Generative AI

In the generative AI segment, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 stands out for providing resources directly from the device and at high speed. In total, there are up to 10 billion parameters in the category.

Smartphones equipped with Qualcomm’s new platform will be able to run both assistants and an image creation tool, which uses Artificial Intelligence technology.

According to the company, the chip supports a broad list of AI models, including the popular large language models (LLM). The compatible list includes Baichuan-7B, Llama 2 and Gemini Nano.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 features a triple 18-bit Cognitive ISP. It allows a series of functionalities to enhance the user experience in photography. Among them, the use of the call Always-Sensing Camera in a double way, that is, you can take advantage of up to two sensors that are always active to facilitate facial recognition and other features, without large energy consumption.

Other possibilities are photo expansion and semantic segmentation, which also take advantage of AI resources for the process. Furthermore, there is the Snapdragon Low Light Vision (LLV), as a tool to improve images captured at night.

To top it off, there is support for 8K recordings with HDR at 30 fps, in addition to 64 MP photo capture. You can also film in 4K at 120 fps or in 720p at 960 fps – the latter for slow motion.

Gaming

In terms of gaming, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 comes with an Adreno GPU with two main new features, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. One of them consists of real-time hardware acceleration for Ray Tracing with global illumination.

Another change consists of compatibility with Unreal Engine 5 Lumen Global Illumination resources and the reflection system, to make game images hyper-realistic.
