The project continues to develop.
A little over a year ago, the Quake II RTX shooter received support for the Vulkan API. This project was the first game to support hardware-independent Vulkan Ray Tracing extensions, allowing users to see how ray tracing works on any compatible GPU. And now it became known regarding the release of patch 1.6 for the game, which added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology.
In addition to the added image scaling technology, the updated project also received support for HDR displays. The game also starts up faster thanks to improved performance when working with highly detailed static models.
Recall that Quake II RTX is built on the basis of the Q2VKPT project, authored by the talented developer Christoph Schied, a specialist from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. To run the project, you will need a machine with Windows 7 (or later) or Ubuntu 16.04 pre-installed.
