On August 18, the driver of a quad was shot dead by a police officer following crushing and injuring another in Oupeye (province of Liège).

According to information from our colleagues at RTL, the family of the quad driver is calling for witnesses. “I hope that we do not investigate with blinkers and that we ask ourselves the question of police blunders,” says Philippe Zevenne.

The family is suspicious: “Their justification is that they themselves were in mortal danger. Me, first, I have no reason to take what is said at its word. No reason. And so, the job is going to be to check if what they say is the truth or if they are defending themselves. A suspicious person to defend himself can lie, ”underlines the lawyer for the Atria family.

The lawyer hopes that witnesses will come forward. “The word of a police officer implicated in serious facts is not worth more than the word of a neutral witness. From the moment the victim is no longer there, he, to say what happened. »
