MONTREAL – Québec solidaire has unveiled a panoply of projects for public transit in the metropolis, including a new purple line of eight stations for the metro that would link eastern Laval and downtown Montreal.

This new line would pass through Rivière-des-Prairies, Montréal-Nord, Rosemont and the Plateau Mont-Royal.

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois unveiled this centerpiece of his Transport Revolution plan on Wednesday during a press conference in the riding of Camille-Laurin, in Montreal.
In addition to the new purple line, QS proposes to extend the green line by one station to the east and the orange line by two stations to the west of Laval.
Québec solidaire also provides:
- 80 km of tramway, including an east-west axis between Lachine and Pointe-aux-Trembles, with branches towards Repentigny and Terrebonne; a north-south axis along the axis of boulevard Lacordaire; a network on the South Shore passing through boulevards Taschereau and Roland-Therrien
- 100 km of SRB, on different axes in Montreal, Laval and on the South Shore
- More than 100 km of new reserved lanes, including new lanes in addition to those provided for in the PQI
- Addition of a connection between the REM and the Dorval station to better connect this network to the commuter train service
The formation assesses all projects at a cost of $47 billion by 2030.
“We are proposing an ambitious plan to enable the 4 million people who live in the greater Montreal metropolitan area to travel from Vaudreuil to Beloeil, from Repentigny to Candiac and from Saint-Jérôme to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. It’s time to change eras, it’s time to give people in the Montreal region green and practical transportation choices,” said Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois in a press release.
