Even if the acquisitions he has made since last summer are with the aim of collecting another trophy, they still allowed Patrick Roy to get his hands on the Maurice-Filion trophy, presented to the general manager by excellence in the QMJHL.

Roy was in contention with that of the Islanders of Charlottetown, Jim Hulton, as well as Stéphane Julien of the Phoenix of Sherbrooke.
This is the first time since his arrival with the Remparts that Roy has won the prize.
Acquisitions
The hockey man had announced his colors from the summer season, by acquiring important pieces. He had first announced the acquisition of the giant format defender of the Saguenéens of Chicoutimi Louis Crevier in return for first and second round picks as well as Félix Bédard.
Roy had also acquired Pier-Olivier Roy and Fabio Iacobo at the same time and he had to wait a few weeks before confirming his most important transaction of the season, the one moving Zachary Bolduc from the Rimouski Océanic to the Remparts in return for three picks in the first round and another in the sixth round.
“He’s a very offensive player, he has excellent skating and a very good throw. He is also versatile, he can play on the wing as well as in the center,” commented Roy shortly following the transaction.
In the end, Bolduc has so far rendered proud services to the Remparts. After a slow start, the St. Louis Blues’ first-round pick had a stellar second half, finishing the season with 55 goals and 99 points in 65 games. He also has seven points, including five goals, in five playoff games so far.
Experience
Although his biggest moves were made before the season, Roy allowed himself to add a few pieces during the trade period last January. He took the opportunity to acquire forwards Conor Frenette and Olivier Coulombe from the Victoriaville Tigres, two players who won the President’s Cup last year. They thus joined two other members of the 2020-2021 Tigres who became members of the Remparts before the start of the season in Gravel and Iacobo.
The Remparts finished the schedule in first place overall in the QMJHL for the first time since the 1998-1999 season.
After sweeping the Saguenéens in three games in the first round, they currently find themselves tied 1-1 in their quarter-final series once morest the Rimouski Océanic. Game no. 3 will take place Thursday at the Sun Life Financial Coliseum.
