QB Jimmy Garoppolo and Josh McDaniels are working together once more. The Las Vegas Raiders signed the veteran quarterback to a three-year, $67.5 million contract. $34 million of salary is guaranteed, like ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Garoppolo spent the last six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. McDaniels, who joined the Raiders as head coach last year, previously worked with the quarterback during his time as offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots.

A few hours ago we reported that QB Jimmy Garoppolo was on the Raiders’ wish list. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Houston Texans and New York Jets also expressed interest in Garoppolo.

In Las Vegas, QB Jimmy Garoppolo will replace Derek Carr, whom the Raiders released in February following nine seasons. Carr recently signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Garoppolo was expected to serve as Trey Lance’s backup in San Francisco in 2022, but had to step in following Lance suffered an injury in Week 2. The quarterback played 10 games before also suffering a foot ailment in Week 13. He finished the season with 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns with four interceptions in 11 appearances.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo, a second-round pick in 2014, went 38-17 in the regular season as the San Francisco 49ers’ starter, posting a 67.6% completion rate, 82 touchdowns and 42 interceptions. With him as quarterback, the 49ers played in two NFC Championship Games and reached Super Bowl LIV.

However, Garoppolo has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career. He has only played one full season since moving to San Francisco.

The Raiders entered the 2022 season with high expectations following hiring McDaniels and signing several high-profile players on both sides of the ball, but failed to live up to those expectations. Las Vegas finished last season with a record of 6-11.
