The General Assembly of the Asian Athletics Federation announced the victory of Qatari Dahlan Jamaan Al-Hamad as president, by acclamation, for a new term ending in 2027.
His Excellency Mr. Dahlan Jamaan Al-Hamad won by acclamation for a third term following two terms in which he achieved a major leap in Asian athletics, which began with his presidency with the election in 2013 in half an electoral cycle that took place in India, then he was re-elected in 2015 in the city of Wuhan in China, then he won the elections in 2019 in Doha .
The General Assembly of the Asian Athletics Federation was held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, yesterday, in its 25th edition, with the participation of 44 federations out of 45 federations that make up the continent of Asia.
The business of the General Assembly took place in the presence of the British Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Mr. Dobermeier, President of the European Union, and a number of presidents of the continental federations (Africa, South and North America, and the Caribbean), in addition to Asian sports icons, including former athletes and administrators, who attended the Asian Federation’s celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of its founding. .
The General Assembly elected eight new members of the Federation’s Board of Directors amid strong electoral competition among the 16 members who were nominated to enter the Board of Directors for the next session, which ends in 2027.
The list of winning members in the elections included Rajeev Bikram from Nepal, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Murr from the UAE, Agapito Capistrano from the Philippines, Ko Wan Ke from Hong Kong, Ching Wang from Chinese Taipei, Roland Saadeh from Lebanon, Nguyen Mang Hong from Vietnam, and Bon Chil Koo. from South Korea. The Federation’s General Assembly had approved the vice-presidents for the five regions of Asia, east, west, south, north and central of the continent, while it had earlier approved the Thai Soorapong Aryamogkul in his position as First Vice-President of the Federation by acclamation and consensus according to the federation’s amendments approved in the Doha Congress 2019.
The General Assembly of the Federation approved the victory of three female candidates in women’s seats by acclamation. The General Assembly also approved the action plan submitted by the General Secretariat of the Federation for the next session, in addition to adopting the development approach set by the President of the Federation, which is compatible with the vision of the International Association of Athletics Federations.
The activities of the federation’s general assembly took place in conjunction with its celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of its founding and the launch of the Asian Senior Championship in its 25th edition tomorrow, with the participation of 44 Asian countries.
His Excellency Mr. Dahlan Jamaan Al-Hamad expressed his happiness at winning by acclamation for a third term at the head of the federation, and said that he appreciated the great confidence that the continent of Asia placed in his person for the next stage, considering that confidence as absolute in the people of Qatar who work in sports at all levels. In his speech at the General Assembly, the AFC President affirmed that the great work that is taking place in the Asian continent will achieve success in the present and the future, and that he is determined to achieve his vision for a new stage for the Asian continent.
Al-Hamad praised the efforts of the Asian federations in the past stage and their keenness to continue working in a distinguished way that achieved many successes for the continent at the level of its participation at the global and Olympic levels, indicating that the federations’ eagerness to implement the vision of Asia 2030 had a great impact on the successes achieved for its children and their achievement of Olympic and international medals. In a way that shows that the continent of Asia will have a bright future in light of the work and efforts exerted.
The President of the Asian Athletics Federation presented his vision for the next stage and said that he would be keen to continue work and keep pace with the development in all the activities of the federation, giving great attention to women in the next stage, explaining that by 2027 the continent of Asia will have an administrative presence at the level of women and that the percentage of women’s participation in the management of the federation will reach For 50 percent in order to allow her to develop the capabilities of the heroines to complete the image of excellence for the continent of Asia.
The General Assembly witnessed honoring a number of game icons in the past years, in appreciation of their giving, at a time when the association appreciated the efforts of the President of the Federation and the supremacy of the AFC as the best developed continent in the world in the past few years.

On the other hand, the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Asian Athletics Championships, in its 25th edition, launched the championship logo in the presence of the participating delegations in a large celebration before the start of the competitions today, Wednesday, at the Thomasat Stadium in the capital, Bangkok.
