Christian Polistic managed to score by penetrating the ranks of the Iranian national team in the 38th minute of the match, following a perfect pass with the head from one of his teammates in the Iranian penalty area, following which he violently clashed with the Iranian goalkeeper, Ali Reza Perranand, but he returned to the match following receiving treatment.
The American team scored a second goal seconds before the end of extra time in the first half, but the referee canceled the goal because it was scored from an offside position.
