Qatar: More exemptions have been announced by Qatar in the context of low number of covid cases in the country. Now Qatar is preparing to host the World Cup. Visitors are now coming to Qatar not only from the GCC countries but also from many Gulf countries. This gives a great boost to Qatar’s tourism sector. 54% of visitors to Qatar came from GCC countries. This is stated in the report released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA). An increase of 869 percent has been recorded in the number of visitors compared to the month of May 2021.

Last year in May 17140 visitors came to Qatar. 166,090 visitors arrived in May this year. The report points out that there has been a 69.7 percent increase in the number of visitors compared to April last year. 90,309 visitors from GCC countries alone arrived in Qatar in the month of May alone. The report also states that 30,258 people arrived in Qatar in the month of April this year alone. Six percent of the total visitors came from Arab countries to visit Qatar.

Last year in May, only 747 people came to visit Qatar. Qatar has released the number of people who arrived by sea and land. According to the report, 426 people arrived by land and 10,100 by sea. The reason for the increase in the number of visitors is due to the reduction of covid and the increase in vaccination in the country. Many people came to Qatar to celebrate the short festive holiday through Abu Samra, the Qatar-Saudi border. According to the report released by the General Authority of Customs, 62628 vehicles went to and from Qatar. 29824 people arrived in Qatar from Asian countries. But 8684 people came from America.
