Doha: As part of the 8th Qatar Malayalee Conference, which is being held with the message “Wait for a friendly coast”, the organizing committee has announced that competitions will be held in football, volleyball, badminton and wadam vali sports. Sports competitions are arranged on district basis to make the competitions more exciting.
Teams should be registered either in the name of the organizations formed on district basis or in the name of district components of mainstream organizations. A maximum of two teams per district will be fielded in any sport. When the mainstream organizations register the team in the name of the district component, only one team in the name of that organization will be allowed in each event. The first team to register meeting these criteria will be eligible to participate. A maximum of 16 teams can compete in each event. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners of each match at the conference venue. An overall trophy will also be awarded to the district that scores the highest number of points in each of the four competitive events.
The sports fair will begin on Friday, September 29, with volleyball matches to be held at the Aspire Dome. Registration for volleyball teams closes at 6pm on Monday 25th September and registration for other competitions closes at 6pm on Sunday 1st October.
