Young Indonesian PEGOKART Qarrar Firhand managed to finish second in the Campionato Italiano Kart Round 5 race at the South Garda International Circuit, Lonato, Italy, Sunday (22/9).
Qarrar, who has been living in Italy for three years, initially scored a positive result in Friday’s qualifying round by taking pole position among a total of 48 karters from all over the world who took part in the Junior class.

In the qualifying round, he had to fight with dozens of karts from Italy, Finland, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey, Thailand, England, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. But, this Fernando Alonso fan was not afraid. He fought hard so he could win first place and appear in the pre-finals on Saturday from first place.
Unfortunately, there was a slight technical problem that caused his position to be dropped to 18th. Even so, the 13-year-old racer was not discouraged at all. The experience of winning pole position in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England two weeks ago and winning at the Franciacorta Circuit, Brescia, Italy, in July 2023 made Qarrar’s spirit even more motivated.
Competing in the final round on Sunday afternoon among dozens of European and world karters, Qarrar continued to advance from position 18. The karter who defends the Parolin Motorsport team continued to fight and began to overtake his opponents one by one until he was able to enter the top 10 at the halfway point of the race. Qarrar really never gave up.

Moreover, Technical coach Rolland Chong and racing strategy coach Felice Tiene continued to give applause from the side of the Circuit.
One by one the opponents began to be passed until approaching 18 laps, Qarrar finished in second place after the Australian kart who won the first place with a narrow difference of 0.325 seconds. While the Brazilian kart Pizzonia Neto took third place with a fairly large difference of 2 minutes, 672 seconds.
“The fight was very tight, especially from position 18 I had to fight hard to keep moving forward. Thank God the go-kart was safe and my condition was very comfortable so I could keep moving until I got the runner-up and got 42 points. Thank God. Thank you also to the entire team crew, Technical coach, manager and everyone who helped me,” said Qarrar.
Next, Qarrar will continue the race on September 27-29 at the Napoli Internationale Circuit at the WSK Euro Series Round 2 event in Napoli, Sarno, Palma, Italy. (Z-6)
