The pig his father was driving fell off a cliff. Devastated by the death of his child, he describes the tragic moments of the car accident.
Mourning for 22-year-old Stathis, who lost his life when the pig he was riding fell off a cliff, on the island of Andros. Tragic detail, driver of the fatal pig was his father.
The testimony of the victim’s father is shocking:
“I was the driver. We were going uphill, I made a little right to let someone pass, because I didn’t want to delay them behind me. I was going with 20 km. The pig does something like that and throws us down two meters which was a cliff, 5 meters down on a concrete road”, said the father of the unfortunate 22-year-old, Takis Gavriliadis, speaking to Mega.
A father and son originally from Pyrgos Ilias were on vacation in Andros.
The pig his father was driving fell off a cliff
The accident occurred at an unsuspected moment when the 22-year-old’s father lost control of the vehicle, as a result of which it deviated from its path and fell off a cliff from a height of 5 meters.
The unlucky youth fell headfirst – without a helmet – and was fatally injured, while his father was injured in the arm.
“If my son was wearing a helmet now he would be alive”
“The pig must have had some problem because it suddenly left the road. We fell straight off the cliff. I broke my arm and the child fell down bleeding from the head. My son, unfortunately, was not wearing a helmet. If he was wearing a helmet now he would be alive,” the 22-year-old’s father continued.
Firefighters and EKAV rescuers rushed to the scene and retrieved the 22-year-old and his father and took them to the island’s Health Center.
A helicopter was immediately ordered to transport the 22-year-old to an Athens Hospital, but it was already too late, as he had succumbed to his serious injuries.
Investigations into the accident are being conducted by the Gavrio police department.
