Pyrénées-Orientales: the colliourenc painter and poet François Bernadi is gone

One hundred years that his life was punctuated by art. François Bernadi, born February 16, 1922 in Collioure died on Wednesday July 27 in Perpignan.

He, who was born into a family of fisherman-winemakers, dedicated his life to the arts. But not only.

Spotted in the 1950s by the writer Albert Camus, he published his first novel sun street (Gallimard). The first of a long line that will be translated into English and German. Spent a time writing the Dépêche du Midi, as a draftsman, he turned to painting, church decoration and the restoration of religious paintings.
