Asuncion, IP Agency.- The works on the PY21 route, promoted by the Government through the Ministry of Public Works, will reduce logistics costs by using the Puerto Indio pier for the export of soybean, corn and wheat production to Brazil, which will boost Paraguay’s trade with the neighboring country.
This will be achieved through the integrated border control area of both countries that operates in Puerto Santa Helena, the Ministry of Public Works highlights.
It will also improve connectivity and accessibility of production for more than 150,000 inhabitants in its area of influence, including the entire district of Mbaracayú.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and is financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In this context, construction work continues on Lot 1 of the Puerto Indio – Empalme Supercarretera route, from km 0 to km 27.
Base and stabilized subbase work is also being carried out between kilometers 9 and 12, as well as the improved subgrade; while between kilometers 1.5 and 7, different layers are being executed in the base seat for the embankment.
At km 20, work is underway on the construction of bridge number 2, with concrete loading on the abutment, and excavation has begun on bridge 3 for the headers and the beginning of the execution of the header structure. At km 25.4, the construction of the 4 X 4 culvert is being carried out at the headers, and at km 6, work is being carried out on the header of the 1 X 1 quadruple culvert.
Lot 1 begins at km 0 to km 27 and is in charge of the company Benito Roggio e Hijos SA with supervision by the Grimaux – Electroconsult Consortium.
Lot 2 goes from km 27 to km 60.3 and is managed by the Company LT SA with supervision by the Consortium TYPSA – AII, the “Contract for the Construction and Maintenance of Roads by Service Levels (CCOMA).
The paving and maintenance project for route PY21” is for 30 months and its subsequent maintenance, for a period of 60 months, reports the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.
