Russian ultranationalist Alexander Dugin, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, dubbed “Putin’s brain”, was accused by Russia following his daughter was killed in a car bomb attack in August. Ukraine is the murderer, and Ukrainian officials deny any connection. The latest U.S. intelligence report revealed that some members of the Ukrainian government were behind it and warned it.
Dugin has been calling for Russia to rebuild the Russian Empire by occupying Ukraine for years, and is seen as one of the drivers behind Russia’s aggression once morest Ukraine. Dugin’s daughter, Darya Dugina, was killed in a car bomb attack on the outskirts of Moscow on August 20, 2022. On that day, she and Dugina were supposed to take the same car together, but Dugin temporarily took another car to return home and escaped. After a catastrophe, Russia officially accused Ukraine of being responsible, and the Ukrainian government denied any involvement in the assassination.
The Wall Street Journal reported that citing U.S. officials, the U.S. intelligence agency released a report on the 5th that the U.S. intelligence community believes that certain Ukrainian government personnel were involved in the assassination attack. The U.S. has warned Kyiv, but did not say which parts of the Ukrainian government were involved in the assassination, or whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had approved the attack, the sources said.
Ukraine has been pointed at Russia for covert sabotage operations since the outbreak of the war, including in Crimea. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian President, once once more emphasized on the 4th that “the execution of assassinations in a certain country or another country during the war has some practical significance and should represent tactics or strategies.
