Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that Vladimir Putin will destroy Russia. Zelensky came out with the criticism following Putin greeted those in military uniform and wished him a happy New Year. Zelensky quipped that the Russian president was hiding behind his troops and not leading them.
Saturday was a day of struggle to the death for Ukraine. Ukrainians will never forgive Russia. At least one person has died and many others have been injured. Zelensky also alleged that missiles were fired at Kyiv in the hours before New Year’s Eve.
Saturday’s attackers are brutal. Your leader wants to show that he leads from the front and the army is behind him. But in reality he is hiding. Hiding behind the army, behind the missile, behind the walls of his house and palace.
He is hiding behind you. Burning your country and destroying the future. No one in the world will forgive you for this terrorism. Ukraine will never forgive. – said Zelensky.
Zelensky later wished the Ukrainian people a happy New Year. He thanked them for their unprecedented efforts to counter the Russian aggression.
We are fighting as a team across the country, in all our sectors. I respect you all. I want to thank all regions of Ukraine. – said Zelensky.
Ukraine’s military chief, Valery Salurny, said 12 of Russia’s 20 cruise missiles were destroyed. Two days following the worst air battle since the start of the war, Russia launched another heavy-handed attack. The series of attacks led to widespread power outages in Ukraine.
Russia has consistently maintained that it does not target civilians. Meanwhile, Putin recently admitted targeting the emergency energy system.
