Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 26th (local time) that “we will not form any military alliance with China”.
According to Russia’s TASS-Interfax news agency, President Putin said in an interview with state-run Russia-24 TV that day, “It is absolutely not true” when asked if “Russia-China cooperation poses a threat to the West.”
“We are cooperating (with China) in the field of military technology,” Putin said. “But not only with China, but also with other countries.”
He added, “We do not hide this. Everything is transparent and there are no secrets.”
Instead, Putin criticized Western powers for trying to forge a new global alliance.
“The United States is making more and more new alliances,” he said. “Earlier this year, Britain and Japan signed an agreement on mutual openness in January.”
Also, referring to the fact that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) agreed on a new strategic concept for bloc development last year, “NATO announced that it would develop relations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, and these countries include New Zealand, Australia and South Korea. It includes,” he said.
“This is why they say that the West is beginning to build a new axis, like the one created in the 1930s by (Nazi) Germany and Italian fascist regimes and militaristic Japan.”
