Putin on Ukraine: Kiev with attacks on civilians wants to disrupt the Russian elections | World: News and News from around the World – 2024-03-18 02:58:58

Russian President Vladimir Putin today Friday, March 15, accused Ukraine of disrupting the conduct of the Russian presidential elections, on the occasion of attacks on civilian targets in Russia and of an attempt, as he said, to penetrate Ukrainian forces into Russian territory, without success.

“Ukraine is attempting to commit criminal acts on the first day of the presidential election,” Putin said. It is noted that the elections will last until Sunday and will also be held in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.

Putin said these attacks would not go unpunished and threatened retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.

The Russian Defense Ministry said this morning that its forces repelled a Ukrainian cross-border attack attempt in Russia’s Belgorod region yesterday.

Earlier on Friday, according to Moscow-appointed officials, two polling stations were shelled by Ukrainian forces in a part of the Russian-controlled Ukrainian province of Kherson.

According to the committee, an unspecified number of people were injured and buildings were damaged.

It is recalled that Ukraine, the European Union and NATO have denounced as “illegal” the holding of these elections in territories occupied by Russia in Ukraine and the results of the elections there invalid.
