War in Ukraine, Zelensky raises the alarm for the mobilization of Kremlin soldiers. «Russia is preparing to mobilize another 300 thousand soldiers by June 1st» to send to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared this during a joint press conference with his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb in Kiev. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
“At the moment I cannot confirm how many people are mobilized in Ukraine,” added Zelensky, according to whom “it is not necessary to mobilize 500 thousand people,” as his former chief of staff, General Valery Zaluzhny, had proposed. In the meantime, however, Zelensky himself is working to increase the number of men ready to take to the field to face the Russian military. In recent hours, in fact, the Ukrainian leader has signed a law that lowers the minimum age for enlistment to 25, from the previous 27. Until now, the law in force protected young people, with special attention to students, preventing them from being mobilized by force. However, it is already possible to join the army voluntarily from the age of 18. Since martial law was introduced following the Russian aggression, however, men aged between 18 and 60 have been banned from leaving Ukraine.
