Russian President Vladimir Putin met with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui at the Presidential Palace in Moscow on the 16th (local time), the Russian state-run RIA news agency reported.

The Kremlin said that it reported to President Putin the results of the foreign ministers’ meeting held earlier between Foreign Minister Choi and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Foreign Minister Lavrov and Foreign Affairs Advisor Yuri Ushakov were also present.

However, it was not revealed specifically what kind of conversation took place between President Putin and Foreign Minister Choi Son-hee.

Archyde.com predicted that discussions would have taken place regarding President Putin’s visit to North Korea last year.

In fact, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained, “President Putin’s visit to North Korea is included in the agenda,” adding, “President Putin will visit North Korea at a convenient time according to mutual agreement of both sides.”

Earlier, at the foreign ministers’ meeting with Foreign Minister Lavrov, Foreign Minister Choi welcomed the progress made in the agreement reached when North Korean Workers’ Party General Secretary Kim Jong-un visited eastern Russia in September last year.

At the time, President Putin met with Secretary General Kim Jong-un at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East and promised to help North Korea develop satellites.

In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Laprov said, “We are very grateful for the similar position at the United Nations, which has always supported North Korea and supported Russia’s position, including on issues related to our special military operations in Ukraine.”

Foreign Minister Choi said, “The fact that the foreign ministers of the two countries are meeting frequently and deepening their comradely ties is further evidence that the friendly relationship between North Korea and Russia, which has a long history of friendship and tradition, is moving forward vigorously according to the plans of the two leaders.”
