Putin comments on his negotiations with Erdogan and Raisi on Syria

(CNN) — Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday, following meeting with his Turkish counterparts Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian Ibrahim Raisi, that “useful and fruitful” negotiations were held on Syria.

Putin added that “Turkey, Iran and Russia share the view that the Syrian crisis can only be resolved by diplomatic and political means on the basis of the internal Syrian dialogue stipulated in UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254.”

The Russian president continued: “The future of Syria must be determined by Syria itself without any external interference,” adding that the next tripartite summit between the three countries on Syria will be held in Russia, without giving a date for the next meeting.

The Russian President had arrived in Tehran, earlier on Tuesday, to hold talks with President and Erdogan, and Putin’s visit to Iran is his first outside the Russian Federation since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, and the foreign trip is the second in total.
