Bonn (ots) –
Two autocrats – one goal: A new world order. Putin and Xi want to lead their nations to new, old greatness. And for this they are willing to risk a lot. “Boundless friendship” has been assured by Putin and Xi to each other. Common enemy: the West. An alliance that might have dramatic consequences for Europe and the USA.
However, Beijing is not happy regarding the Russian announcement that the grain agreement with Ukraine will expire. The end of the deal, which led to a fall in the price of grain on the world market, also determined this week’s Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, where the Russian president is trying to demonstrate his international influence.
But following almost a year and a half of war, who is actually still standing by the Kremlin chief’s side? How big is his support in the so-called “BRICS” countries? What regarding relations between Chinese President XI and Putin? And how is the global power structure changing as a result of the war in Ukraine?
Eva Lindenau discusses with:

– Udo Lielischkies, former ARD studio manager Moscow
– Astrid Prange de Oliveira, Deutsche Welle, Brazil
