Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will hold a summit this week to discuss international issues.

According to CNN, the Russian Kremlin Palace announced on the 4th (local time) that President Putin will hold talks with President Lukashenko in Moscow this week, and the Belarusian state news agency Beltado reported that President Lukashenko will visit Russia for two days from the 5th.

Previously, President Putin announced last month that he would deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which shares borders with NATO member countries Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, by the summer.

Belarus is an ally of Russia and maintains a close relationship not only military and diplomatic, but also economic and administrative. Until just before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the two countries conducted joint training in the Belarusian-Russian border area, and after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, suspicions were raised that Belarus could participate in the war.
