Settlements in foreign currency with buyers from unfriendly countries are possible, but only when it comes to collecting or repaying debts. This is stated by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Document published on the official portal of legal information.
“A special account for the Russian supplier is opened in the foreign currency specified in the contract for the supply of natural gas,” the document reads.
At the moment when the funds are credited to a special account, the debt is considered repaid. At the same time, the repayment will not become the basis for the resumption of deliveries from the Russian side in the event that the foreign buyer does not comply with the relevant procedure.
Recall that from April 1, 2022, according to the decree of Vladimir Putin, there is a special procedure for paying for natural gas from Russia for unfriendly countries. They must pay in rubles.
