The purchasing power bonus for Belgians will soon be distributed to those who need it most.

Purchasing power bonus for Belgians!

On May 10, the Belgian House of Representatives will study the bill for the purchasing power bonus. This law would allow companies that have made significant profits to redistribute this money to their employees. The maximum premium is 500 euros per worker.

For companies that have accrued exceptionally high profits, the amount can reach 750 euros. However, it is important to respect a specific framework so that this “additional bonus” can be granted.

This is the purchasing power bonus for Belgians. However, the companies concerned and their employees must go through a collective labor agreement (CCT) to grant this bonus, either at sector or company level. An individual agreement can be considered followingwards.

Politicians leave it up to everyone to understand what “high benefits” or “exceptional” means. Companies are not obliged to participate in this redistribution of wealth.

Small business survey results

According to a study carried out by SD Worx last March, it appeared that 10% of small and medium-sized companies would be willing to refuse the payment of the purchasing power bonus, mainly due to financial difficulties.

However, 57% of companies would consider giving the maximum amount allowed by law to their employees, provided that they are ready to take the plunge. In addition, nearly one in five SMEs would rather give half of this amount to their employees than give nothing at all.

Regarding the terms of the purchasing power bonus, it is important to note that the checks will be available in two formats: paper or electronic.

These checks can be used from June 10, 2023 to December 31, 2023 and will be valid until December 31, 2024. It is also possible that these checks will be extended, depending on government decisions.
