After announcing their nominees in 20 categories, as well as the musical numbers that will animate the live ceremony on Sunday, June 4, the Pulsar Awards —the most important award in Chilean music, organized since 2015 by SCD— revealed the five that will go for one of their most coveted statuettes in each edition: The one that recognizes the Album of the Year.
The section, which selects its applicants among the nominees of all the categories (check them here), will thus reflect the diversity and richness of our scene, with representatives of four different genres: Yorka and Cristóbal Briceño (Best Pop Artist), Congreso (Best Root Music Artist), Matiah Chinaski (Best Urban Music Artist) and Niños del Cerro (Best Rock Artist).
The works that they postulate correspond to the albums “Luz de flash” (Congress), “Doler Crece” (Cristóbal Briceño), “Acentomático” (Matiah Chinaski), “Suave slope” (Niños del Cerro) and “Chao” (Yorka) .
With the disclosure of this list, Congreso ratifies its place at the top of the nominations with a total of five, also appearing in Best Root Music Artist thanks to “Luz de flash” and in Song of the Year with “La piel de your wounds.” Additionally, their drummer Sergio “Tilo” González will go for the Best Producer award, precisely for his work on the group’s latest album, while saxophonist Jaime Atenas will compete for Best Instrumentalist.
Yorka, meanwhile, adds Album of the Year to his previous nominations for Best Pop Artist, for his album “Chao”, and Recording of the Year, where they mark a presence with the same plaque along with those who participated in its production such as Jack Lahana. , Herman Araujo, Fernando Herrera, Arturo Zegers and Camilo Artigas.
The final destination of the most important award in Chilean music will be known on June 4, when the ceremony of the ninth edition of the Pulsar Awards, which will be broadcast by TVN and Radio Bío Bío in prime time on Sunday.
The program will start at 10:00 p.m. and will be hosted by Eduardo Fuentes and Ivette Vergara (animators of the Olmué Festival), from a studio where more than 300 guests from the scene will meet, including all the nominees and prominent figures of local music.
The show of the ceremony, meanwhile, includes five moments and regarding twenty artists, including a tribute to Zalo Reyes and unprecedented collaborations between artists such as Princesa Alba, Cristóbal Briceño, Inti-Illimani Histórico, Soulfia and Zúmbale Primo. , among others.
Pending that day, the vote for Artist of the Public, the only category decided by the audience itself through a popular vote, will remain available on the website vota.premiospulsar.cl, until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.
